Child/family sessions

CHILD/FAMILY SESSION INFORMATION

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Prior to your session, we will discuss (via phone or email), your vision for your session. Child/family sessions typically take 1-1.5 hours. Sessions will take place at a location of your choice, using natural light. The best times for an outdoor session are early morning and a couple of hours before sunset.

DURING YOUR SESSION

During your session, we will work to create a mix of photojournalistic and creative portrait shots. For sessions where the focus is the child, it is best that parents step back a bit and limit interaction with the child. I have a lot of funny noises and faces that usually get the attention of the little ones and this is the best way for me to get the child to look directly into my camera lens.

For family shots, I will ask that you start out ‘being yourselves’ – interact with one another, have fun! When you spend the day at the park, you don’t sit there staring out into space, smiling and saying cheese! You are sitting with each other talking, tickling, chasing each other – these are the moments I want to capture for your family. Yes, there will be times where I ask everyone to stop and look and maybe smile a little but those moments are few and far in between.

AFTER THE SESSION

Within 2-3 weeks of your session, I will post a preview of some of your images here on the website. Within 4 weeks of your session, I will contact you with a password so you can access your own personal web gallery of your final images for 30 days. Typically, 20-30 images will be presented to you. All of your images will be shot in color and when I feel it is artistically appropriate, I will convert some images to black and white.
